Q. I just want the computer to use to surf the internet, maybe do some essay/report/paper typing, and other basic functions. I don't expect to be downloading much at all. I'll probably also use it as a portable dvd player at times. I'm going to be goin to graduate school soon so I might use it for homework needs then as well. Any suggestion about what not to get? Or what essential things do I actually need? I don't know the terminology at all and it's all foreign to me. How much memory, etc.? Any information anyone can provide would be very appreciated Asked by jdil84 - Tue Apr 3 00:44:35 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Not sure if you want a PC or laptop, but you would need: 512MB (1GB if you don't plan on upgrading later) of RAM. At least a 40GB hard-drive. Just for documents and watching movies you wouldn't need a very big one. Obviously a DVD drive (DVD-HD recommended). You wouldn't need a very powerful processor, probably at least 2.0GHZ though. Shouldn't cost over $800 for a laptop and $500 for a PC. Answered by Chris_Knows - Tue Apr 3 00:51:08 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Internet terminology"
