Are these teachers unions and the politicians who support them really looking out for the kids?
Q. About 160 instructors and others get salaries for doing nothing while their job fitness is reviewed. They collect roughly $10 million a year, even as layoffs are considered because of a budget gap.
Asked by Yahoo Answer Angel - Wed May 6 14:34:00 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I am a teacher, and it is wrong that unqualified teachers collect this amount of money. However, your anger is misplaced. The true anger is with a legislature that makes the rules that allow this sort of thing to happen. Here is the catch in your story. Let's say the school district gets rid of this guy, Kim (one of the 160 mentioned in your story). He then sues the school department, city and anyone else for wrongful termination. Let's also further assume that the case goes before a judge or jury that sympathizes with this poor, unfortunate soul...Now you're out a lot more than $10,000,000, after you figure in damages. It's a great world we live in, isn't it?
