I see plenty of positive images of women in the media. Women in TV commercials are often shown as clever, successful, competent etc, sometimes more so than the men they are with. You get clever women in TV shows, like Abby in NCIS for example who is a sort of eccentric genius. TV shows aimed at adolescents often seem to feature clever girls, like iCarly or Hannah Montana, or the Wizards of Waverley Place etc. I don't thinkt he media portrays women negatively at all.
