How come the prime minister of Canada has no power or authority?
Q. It seems like the prime minister of Canada has no real power or authority. I say this as a canadian. Compared too the president of the US it looks that way, I know the US is a lot bigger (population wise) and has more power than canada but still. And when the prime minister is speaking at that house thing there is all these losers yelling in the back. Everything has too go threw all these votes and no one agrees so nothing really ends up happening. Could someone explain why? Also what the prime ministers powers are? Thanks so much!
Asked by Tina Get The Axe! - Thu Apr 30 15:44:28 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Actually the Prime Minister has a great deal of power. He chooses the Ministers, leads the direction that the party takes, and he sets the agenda of the government. I also say he, because Prime Minister Harper is the current Prime Minister. I would say that the Prime Minister is more involved with the day to day dealings of the government that the American President. The Prime Minister has to spend some time amongst the MPs. It just so happens that there is not a majority government currently and in order to maintain his grip on power, he has to negotiate with the other parties. Like a true democracy. Believe it or not the yelling is part of the game. The opposition is yelling to voice their constituents' concerns. Try this link… [cont.]

What are the practical uses of prime numbers in everyday life?
Q. We all learned about prime numbers in math. I believe they are used in encrption technology, but I don't know how. Whay purpose(s) do prime numbers serve? What are some of the common uses for prime numbers in every day life and business? What is the significance of large prime numbers, other than they get harder and harder to find?
Asked by afortiori - Sun Jan 20 23:43:48 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The government uses prime numbers to hand out stipends, that way there is always a remainder which they can collect back. :) Prime numbers are also good for encryptions because to hack it a common method is to use addition subtraction, and other elementary operators which can be difficult with prime number codes. Prime numbers are essentially a novelty. What is the use of 6? or 12? or 18? They are just numbers that fall into a certain category. Someone recognized their similarity and it applies to only mathematical models.

A. you obviously didn t sear it first you have to sear all red meats before you roast them to prevent the juices from running out don t put salt but you could use pepper I also find it helpful to sprinkle (White bread crumb) lightly the secret to a good roast is the temperature don`t cook it too much about 20 minutes a a kilo for rare and always let it rest at least 15 minutes before cutting it. that is done to equalize the internal temperature (Chef Nabil).

Q. I have a Canon Rebel XTi with 1.6x crop factor and I am planning on going on a cruise with it. I was thinking about bringing my EF 50mm f/1.4 USM with me but was wondering if the cropped sensor will be a problem? If so, what other prime lens would you suggest? I would like to be able to shoot in low light without a flash. My only other lens is the kit 18-55mm lens

A. Please tell me you're not thinking of bringing only ONE single prime lens, nothing else? Oh boy... I hope not. If you DO have other lenses with you, then that 50mm f/1.4 lens would be wonderful to have!!!

do I need to prime a wall before painting for new contruction home?
Q. I want to paint the interior walls but I'm unsure if I need to sand and/or prime the walls before painting. The paint that is currently on the walls is paint used by the builder.
Asked by Regina T - Sun Jul 20 00:00:26 2008 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Did you get a touch up kit? Most builders leave one for you-then you'll know if its latex (waterbased) or not. Most use latex everywhere now due to the ease and new enviormental standards with paint. No-you shouldn't need a primer. Try Behr paint or Valspar excellent brands. Walmarts paint is actually made by Valspar and I loved how thick and rich it went on the walls. Try also the low sheen or pearl or such. Its between flat and satin-so it looks flat but is totally easy to clean. Semi-gloss in bath andkitchens for same reasons-satin or semi in laundry rooms. I just repainted my whole 3,400 sq ft house myself-I'm 48 yrs. Just a small space going up the stairs is left as I don't want to stretch on the ladder without hubby! You can do it-and [cont.]

How long can cooked prime rib keep in the refrigerator?
Q. My wife made a beautiful prime rib on 12/17 and we've had the leftovers in the refrigerator ever since. (16 days) She's cooked some of it into a different leftover dish etc. Which was great. But today she took the rest of it and cooked it again in the crock pot and is shredding it to use in tacos or something similar. Is this safe? It's been in the refrigerator for over 2 weeks. Pleas advise. I don't want us to get sick...at the same time we don't want to waste good meat.

Do I have to prime a wall before repainting to a darker color?
Q. My living room color is a mango "floridian" orange and I am wanting to repaint it to a putty/concrete gray/or medium beige color but am not sure if I am going to have to re-prime the walls to make sure the orange gets covered up? Thanks!
Asked by BadKitty305 - Fri Apr 18 13:21:17 2008 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You will be happier with the results if you do, particularly if you have any kind of texture, like orange peel, on the wall. One coat of primer, the stain blocking type like Zinsser, will save you countless hours of work. I have 5 coats of paint on my family room ceiling because I thought I knew better than my painter who suggested I prime first. With every coat, I found little pin holes of the original color poking through which required another coat.

How many pounds of prime rib should I cook?
Q. I am having 6 guests over for prime rib. We are all big eaters. How many pounds should I cook? No guesses please. I would like the opinion of someone who really knows the answer to this question. Thanks.
Asked by ericcoz - Mon Dec 25 21:51:25 2006 - - 13 Answers - 0 Comments

A. With a bone attached prime rib I would go with a 10-12 pound rib. This is one cut of meat where generous cuts are a must. My husband always has the butcher trim the bone off the roast and tie it back on with butcher's twine. This way you get the favor benefit of the bones but not the pain of removing the bones from a hot roast. Our last rib was 5 pounds and the 3 of us polished it off. We had minimal sides.

How long should we cook out prime rib roast?
Q. It's a 15 lb prime rib roast with the bones in it. We want it to be medium rare. How long should we cook for in the oven?

A. It will take 1 to 2 hours at 350 F. I always use a digital meat thermometer. Just keep checking it. Insert the tip into the thickest part of the meat. It will be done when it reads 130 F (meduim rare). You can buy these thermometers at any kitchen store. They are inexpensive.

Should I add more coats of red paint or prime and start again?
Q. I recently painted a white wall with red paint without priming it (stupid idea). Now, after three coats of red, the wall looks mottled and uneven, and you can see the rollermarks and brushstrokes everywhere. Should I prime the wall with a gray primer and start again, or will more coats of red eventually work?

How do you find prime numbers under a given number?
Q. I am getting ready for a math placement exam, and heard that there are tough riddle-like questions, such as "how many prime numbers are there under 2007?". I heard that there was some way you could find the number of primes under a given number. Do any of you know how? Thanks in advance!
Asked by ShadoPoig - Sat Jun 2 22:23:08 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The answers above are correct, in that you could use the Sieve to know with certainty the number of primes less than 2007, but you wouldn't want to do that on a test. It takes a long time, and you have other questions to answer. The best estimate for the number of primes less than n is [n/ln(n)]. Obviously you'll have to round the answer to an integer value, and even that is still an estimate, but it becomes a very good estimate as n gets large. Use this formula to find your estimate, and look for the closest answer on the multiple choice. (To ask this question without multiple choice would be unreasonable.)

How will a 25bp drop in the prime help the rate on a 30 yr mortgage?
Q. The fed is poised to drop prime today by 25bp and possibly the discount rate as well. I am curious if anyone knows how it will affect the interest rates on conventional 30 mortgages. Thanks,
Asked by i w - Tue Sep 18 10:49:14 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well, in simple terms, newly offered 30-year fixed rate mortgages should be at lower interest rates than what they were before the (supposed) rate drop. When interest rates fall, money is easier to borrow all around, so all loans see a fall in interest rates.
